Five minutes with Anton Scott, Head of Sales at Iceberg
Could you tell us a bit about your career to date?
I’ve worked in financial services for over 30 years, including roles at Bank of Scotland, Aldermore and most recently Carrick Asset Finance. I’ve learnt a lot over my career, holding roles mainly in asset finance, but also as a mortgage broker for a few years.
I also worked in asset finance in Australia for three years, after studying for my degree in Economics and HR. It’s a very different landscape there where the customer really matters, this mantra has stayed with me.
What has been a career highlight?
Working in Australia was one of my career highlights – it was very different but it enabled me to understand how differing cultures impact how things are done, there is often not one best way!
Most recently it would have to be joining Iceberg as Head of Sales – it’s been great to join a brilliant team in such an interesting industry and with an unrivalled reputation. Funnily enough, I also grew up in Poole, so I’m delighted to be back. It’s interesting that over the last six months my wife and I have been talking about moving closer to the coast, funny how things work out sometimes.

What does a typical day-to-day look like for you?
A typical day would include having meetings with clients to see how we can support them. In addition, I liaise with the wider Iceberg sales team to ensure they have exactly what they need to service our clients and exceed expectations.
My role isn’t just about being a sales leader, but also a support function for the team to make sure we can succeed together.
What’s been your favourite part about Iceberg so far?
Without a doubt it’s the people. I know that often gets said, but everyone is not only so friendly and has made me feel welcome, they’re also so motivated and ready to do business and support our clients. It’s what makes Iceberg a great place to work.
Finally, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love staying active, I enjoy mountain biking, road cycling, running but best of all skiing! However, my favourite thing to do off wheels and skis is to walk my energetic dog, Ozzie. He’s an Australian Kelpie, which is a breed of Australian sheep dog, he is a bundle of energy so I’m often out walking him or running Canicross. Back to the Poole connection, mine and Ozzies favourite place is Hengistbury Head, just a few miles from Poole!
