A majority of British lawmakers, including 224 members of the House of Commons and 329 members of the House of Lords, have endorsed Mrs Maryam Rajavi's ten-point plan for a democratic and secular republic in Iran.
This joint statement calls for the terrorist designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and recognises the right of PMOI (MEK) resistance units to confront the IRGC.
The signatories, a total of 553 British MPs, strongly condemn the Iranian regime's actions against dissidents in Ashraf-3, Albania, and emphasise their rights under the Geneva Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights.
The signatories include the chairs of ten parliamentary committees, former Deputy Prime Minister Lord John Prescott, former Labour Party leader Lord Neil Kinnock, former Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, former Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith, former Chief of the General Staff Lord Richard Dannatt and former First Minister of Northern Ireland Baroness Arlene Foster.
Over 55 former ministers and deputy ministers from Conservative and Labour cabinets are also included. The statement highlights the Iranian regime's destructive role in the Middle East and its aggressive policies.
The British lawmakers call for the IRGC to be designated a terrorist organisation and for oil sanctions to be imposed on the regime. They also condemn the regime's human rights abuses, particularly its oppression of women, and call for accountability for the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners.
