Capcom isn’t ‘suffering massive losses and stumbling through avoidable layoffs’, as Game Developer points out, whilst asking ‘what is it doing right?’. It speaks to Wilds?game director Yuya Tokuda, executive producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, and art director Kaname Fujioka, and learns that: ‘there's a unique culture of communication across development of the widely-used RE Engine, among game developers on different games, and between developers and sales teams across the globe, that make its blockbuster strategy stand out in a turbulent 2024’. More positive news comes via Pocketgamer.biz, which has revealed that Savvy Games Group is creating some 600 new games jobs in Saudi Arabia. The site says: ‘The state-backed firm has released its annual report for the past year in which it discusses its strategic goals. We’re sticking with the good news, this time courtesy of Gamesindustry.biz which reports that Steam has broken records with 37 million concurrent players last weekend: ‘PUBG remains the top game for concurrent users on Steam, having topped out at 3.3 million players at its peak’.
