#FITC2021 – the era of electric vans and trucks

On a cold and damp Tuesday in late September I attended Freight in the city 2021 at Alexander Palace, and this year was all about the electric trucks and vans.?This show is for urban commercial transport solutions and this year it was a packed show with lots of manufacturers and trade stands

It is three years since I had last attended because of COVID.?As you arrived, you were greeted by an electric Maxus van in the car park.?

Scania held the first presentation as headline sponsor and had a range of hybrid and full electric trucks on their stand, as well as details on an overhead catenary system they are trialing.

There was a wide range of van and truck options available and Volvo were back with a full electric tractor and rigid truck option.?New players Volta and Tevva both had their new models on offer.

Mercedes, Renault and Iveco all had new vehicles.?Mercedes have an eEconic which can be configured with a range of municipal waste body options. Iveco were also displaying an CNG power vehicle.

Siemens even had a variety of charging options to suit your needs.

Overall a good post COVID show, with promise of a variety of electric powered vehicles to suit various applications.?The future of electric transport looks promising.?
