Weight loss is at the top of everyone’s mind every time a new year rolls around. It’s become such a cliche, perhaps because it’s one of those resolutions that are so challenging to actualize. This is not an issue shared by Madison Keaney’s clients. Known online as the Fit Queen, her purely online, high-ticket coaching program has been integral in the weight loss and health goals of busy women in America. Majority of them lost 15-20 lbs easily, the healthy way. Her secret? Mindset.
From Gym Owner to Online Coach
Keaney and her partner opened a gym in 2017 – they were in their early 20’s and eager to help people. By 2020 their clientele was starting to rise, their impact becoming more tangible. This, of course, was only a few weeks before they had to close due to the pandemic.?
They were quick to adapt, but clients were hesitant to avail of online training and instead waited for gyms to reopen. “We waited for months,” Keaney said in the Ambitious Tribe podcast. “But it didn’t even matter when we reopen, because this industry is forever changed. You might as well get ahead of it instead of clinging on what it used to be.”
And that’s exactly what they did. They switched their niche to women’s weight loss, much to the dismay of their current clients, but Keaney saw quick results that made her confident in their choice to pivot. “It’s really cool to see a contrast, to see how much more successful our clients are now than when they were in the gym,” she said. After all, gyms are so heavily focused on workouts when that’s only a sliver of what gives people long-term results.?
The Fit Queen Methodology
Keaney’s whole life has been upended by body image issues, describing it as “a lack of balance in health and nutrition.” She realized that the more she analyzed her behaviors and the diets she had tried, lack of knowledge was not the problem. “Most times we know what to do. The problem is we don’t do it,” she said.
The most important step that no one ever gets to, according to Keaney, is implementing that knowledge we keep seeking for. “A meal plan and workout are super important because a lot of people don’t have that in their lives – simple, easy, fast workouts are key – but what happens when you don’t feel like doing them?” What happens when you fail, when you gain back the weight? Keaney asks us: are we going to get back up and try again?
“I realized I have to turn these women into badass women who do what they need to do even when they don’t feel like it,” Keaney added. “That starts with mindset, and being in a group of other women who are working towards the same thing.”

Restoring Responsibility
Part of the Fit Queen methodology is what Keaney calls her Golden 5. It’s all the knowledge, mentorship, and coaching she got in her 10 years in the field and spent half a million dollars on, condensed in five points that she and her clients practice every day.?
The first of the Golden 5 is “Restore Responsibility,” which Keaney explained succinctly: “You are where you are because of you.” Maybe you were dealt a bad hand, now what? “You can complain about it, or try to work your way out of it,” she said. She urged us to blame ourselves for everything, because then we have the power to change it for the better.?
Naturally our conversation went to pain, especially in terms of transformation. Being entrepreneurs, we are both all too familiar with the pain that comes with a business. “Entrepreneurship forces people to grow. It’s either sink or swim,” Keaney said, adding that she has had to face her limiting beliefs, put her ego aside, and continue elevating her skillset, among many other things.?
“There are growing pains all the time, and it can be really hard because it’s always you – you screwed up, you failed, you handled that wrong,” Keaney explained. “Every pain I’ve felt was a problem with myself. It’s really hard to accept that.”
Still, Keaney sees pain as a sign that she’s going in the right direction. If she’s uncomfortable, it means she’s doing something she’s not used to. It means she’s growing.
She recalled trying to shift online before the pandemic because the gym wasn’t big enough for their dreams and goals. They hired a business coach and spent money to get our website, our bundles, done professionally. “We tested online for a bit, and it completely bombed,” Keaney said. “My belief was, if it didn’t work, it’s never going to work.”
But Keaney made it work, and now she leads the top coaching program for busy mothers in North America, and she’s only getting started. As she said, the only solution to growing pains is not to retreat, and that’s exactly what led her to where she is now.
