FIS Alpine World Ski Championship to Norway and Narvik in 2029

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has awarded the Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF) and the Municipality of Narvik the 2029 Alpine World Ski Championship. Finally, the world sees what a fantastic tourism product Northern Norway and Narvik are.

A world championship will contribute to a significant boost for the tourism industry. More than NOK 1.5 billion will be invested as a result of the championship to Narvik. This will mean new lifts, more snow production and new pists. New hotels have been built and more will be added. In addition to becoming a world-class international sports arena, the facility will also be significantly strengthened as an all-year-round spectacular tourism resort.

Narvik has been an unknown diamond in the context of tourism. The unique location by the fjord in the middle of a city creates a fantastic starting point for growth. A lot has happened with the tourist destination Narvik in recent years. This will now accelerate further. Combined with direct scheduled flights from the important European markets where alpine sports are strong, this will have a significant effect.

The FIS World Ski Championship in Narvik 2029 will definitely make the unique experiences we offer here in the north even better known.
