FirstNet | Military First Responders
Military First Responders deserve the best communications. The Government has awarded FirstNet to AT&T. The mission: To build a national broadband network to ensure First Responders receive the communication services they deserve and need. This includes our hero's that service as First Responders on DOD installations.
Why should military installation commands and First Responders talk with AT&T on how to implement FirstNet capabilities?
1) Quality of Service, Priority, and Preemption (QPP). Installation emergency services will receive clear & priority access to the network. When lives are in jeopardy, this is what our service members and their families deserve. QPP is FREE!
2) Incident Response. Installation emergency services will have access to 72 Satellite Cell-On-Light-Trucks (COLTS). COLTS will be deployed to support incident commanders nationwide for sustained operations (natural disasters, large scale events). This capability is FREE!
3) Public Safety Home Page: This will allow First Responder leadership and incident responders to know the status of their network - real time. This situational awareness is FREE!
Large headline events at the Pentagon, Navy Yard, Fort Hood and Camp Pendleton (wild fires) drove FirstNet. DOD First Responders serve in every scenario. From the urban Pentagon site, where 22 agencies can respond, to rural Ft Hood where communication reception can be sporadic, FirstNet is needed.

7 年Gene Rice: It's coming fast. We are 3 months ahead of schedule with July 15th being the next date for info release.
Please continue to call me Gene, as everyone except LI and my 1st grade teacher has done.
7 年Great article, Jim. There should be more from FirstNet (First Responder Network Authority) on Federal First Responder support capabilities.
