The First Way ATSs Block Your Resume

The First Way ATSs Block Your Resume

There are many reasons Applicant Tracking Systems are blocking your resume.

But there is usually an order to the ways ATSs choose which resumes to block.

This is usually the first reason ATSs block your resume: Incompatible formats. But formats are incompatible with ATSs for a couple of reasons:

  • File Type:?There is one file type that works with all ATSs. A second file type works with 50% of Applicant Tracking Systems, but you won't know which ATS or version that an individual employer uses. All other file types are rarely readable by ATSs. This means your resume is put into a queue to be translated, which can take up to 2 weeks. Even worse, file translations can inject errors into your resume that make you look careless and sloppy.
  • Document Formatting:?Document formatting can impact what gets read into an ATS, vs what is hidden. Some file formatting hides or blocks information from being seen. Other formatting can cause an Applicant Tracking System into the wrong data field (for example: Your email address or phone number). Still others can make your resume look like a mess. Unless you're looking for a graphic design position, fancy formatting isn't worth it.

Even if you get through the Applicant Tracking System, HR or the hiring manager may be blocking you from getting interviews.

All you know is that you're not getting interviews you want ... you're left to guess what's not working.

Why guess? Let me teach you resume/job search strategies to get you through/around the ATS more often, get more interviews, and find a great job fast. While we're at it, let me teach you how to accelerate your search so much, you can find a great next job fast, even if you're unemployed, over 40, or have other tough job search issues.

This is the 3rd recession and recovery I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during the toughest job markets. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers every week since mid-March 2020.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process. You're probably making similar mistakes, without realizing it.

But I've been teaching job seekers to beat Applicant Tracking Systems for 14 years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than appearing average. I'll show you how to beat the ATS and find a great job fast by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 17 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can beat the ATS and find your next job fast during a highly competitive job market, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers/industry/location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
