First UN Virtual Worlds Day launches global CitiVerse initiative

The new Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds – Discovering the CitiVerse will define norms and principles to guide the governance of metaverse solutions for urban planning, education in cities, municipal services, and more. Led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN International Computing Centre (UNICC) and Digital Dubai, the initiative will drive capacity development, facilitate exchanges of best practices, and develop a “sand box environment” for cities to real-life challenges in virtual world scenarios.
