First Things First? Try Second or Third Things First Occasionally!

Work never ends!

If as a manager or company executive you wait for a project to be completed in order to perform a team workshop or training it most likely won't happen. Why? Because there is always something important to do.

As companies are committed to their clients they make sure clients are always in the first place, and that is something good! But when that commitment is such that we put employees on the background it might cause a negative impact at some point.

Investing time on trainings and workshops is something that will produce a powerful impact in the mid term on your team. Here are some tips for anyone interested to make you and your teams think outside of their boxes:

  1. Set up time in advance on your employees' calendars so they notice there is a formality and they have time to prepare
  2. Depending on the workshop nature avoid as possible computers or anything that reminds your employees their work
  3. Create a safe environment in which employees feel relaxed when having the training or workshop even if they have work in progress or pending
  4. Create the culture that the training time is an investment. That hour or two hours invested are part of the working day, not additional time
  5. Have your team providing feedback on the training, that will help you to improve the next time
  6. Once the training finishes don't rush your employees about their pending work or about making up the "lost" time
  7. Schedule the next session!

We might not be able to control our client's planning or time, but we are able to control our time! If training has been put on the second or third place try putting it in the first place sometimes, you won't regret.

I appreciate your feedback.

Regards,

Erik

El entrenamiento constante da esa sensación de ganar-ganar que todos deberíamos tener en nuestros puestos de trabajo.
