The First Step On The Spiritual Path

The First Step On The Spiritual Path

The first step on the spiritual path is to stop blaming yourself. People blame themselves saying, "Oh, I did this wrong; I'm no good."

What is spiritual path? It's going inward to be in touch with yourself at the core of your being. When you blame someone else, do you want to be around them? So, if you blame yourself, how can you go deep within yourself?

The biggest impediment to meditation is self-blame. Self-blame prevents you from settling down. And if you can't settle down, you start to blame others around you.

We oscillate between self-blame and blaming others. We judge ourselves too much or we judge others--either we're not all right or someone else is wrong. Wake up and stop judging. Don't be too hard on yourself.

You're part of the phenomenon that' happening. Like the trees, the rivers, and the birds are here, you're also here. So many birds have taken birth, and so many birds have died. So many trees have sprouted and grown, and they've all vanished. Like this, so many people have come into this world, and they'll all pass on. Then new people will come and go. This planet has been like this for billions of years.

We don't see that this how things are. When you see your life from a bigger context, then you stop blaming yourself.

We need to find that fine balance to recognize shortcomings without blame. Not denying and not blaming but recognizing. The mere recognition itself takes you further.

So the first step on the spiritual path is to stop blaming yourself and to stop blaming others. Then you are able to go within yourself. And when you go within yourself, you find there is no other.

The formula of live is this: There is no other.
