The First Step Matters!

The First Step Matters!

The story in Chapter 3 of the book of Joshua is a powerful illustration of faith and courage. During the harvest, the Jordan River was at flood stage, making it seem impossible to cross. Yet, God had promised the Israelites that they would cross the river and gave specific instructions: the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant must step into the river first. As soon as the priests' feet touched the water, the flow of the river stopped, piling up a great distance away, and the people were able to cross on dry ground opposite Jericho.

This miraculous event required the priests to exhibit immense faith. The sight of a raging, overflowing river could have easily deterred them. However, they trusted God's promise and took that critical first step. Their act of faith triggered the miracle that allowed the entire nation to cross safely.

In our own lives, we often encounter similar situations where taking the first step seems scary. We know that action is required to reach our goals or fulfill our destiny, but fear and doubt can paralyze us. The voices around us, whether from others or from our own insecurities, often tell us that success is impossible or too risky. This leads to procrastination, causing us to delay important decisions that could change our lives for the better.

Just like the priests at the Jordan River, we need to find the courage to take that first step. It involves trusting in the process and believing that the path will become clearer as we move forward. This requires silencing the doubts and focusing on the potential for success. By taking the first step, we initiate a chain of events that can lead us to our desired destination, much like how the priests' step into the riverbed led to the stopping of the waters and the crossing of the Israelites.

Thus, the story of crossing the Jordan River serves as a timeless reminder that faith and action are crucial in overcoming obstacles and achieving our goals. It encourages us to move beyond hesitation and to trust that the path will open as we take those brave, initial steps.

Thank you for sharing such inspiring thoughts. The story is a timeless reminder of the need to express faith through action. Taking the first step in any situation, especially one that has a significant impact on someone's life or an organization's destiny, requires both faith and action.
