Some Ukraine first responders are unpaid - doing work for free.

History of Growing First Responders – during his 20 years in Congress, Curt Weldon conceived, organized and led the empowerment of America’s 1.2 million first responders (during the President Bush Administration). After Congressional work to support public safety and help expand $4 Billion, Mr. Weldon then formed an international non-profit, ‘One World for Life,’ to assist 25+ million first responders worldwide. Mr. Weldon also organized and co-chaired RADA/Congress and DUMA/Congress during his 20-year tenure in Congress. He also was Vice Chairman of the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees and has continued connections in the past 15 years.

This year, Safe America and its WorldSafe Institute will evaluate a fall campaign to engage first responders. While September has been named ‘National Preparedness Month’ since 2002, Safe America plans to re-launch September as ‘Safe America Month.’ Fortune 500 and retail firms will be encouraged to 'be prepared' to teach their customers and showcase new projects like 'disaster drills.' Zoom discussions and select meetings are being planned in New York, Washington, DC, Atlanta and Chicago, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico.
