First

Chapter 1 - LinkedIn

A wise man once said - "There is a first time to everything". Well, I understand his words but I don't follow them, or I'm afraid to be following them.

Anyway, let's start our journey of our first times, our first experiences.

Any guesses on what will be the first???

Ding...Dong!! As you already would have guessed (if you read the name of the chapter), it is LinkedIn. Why? As you all know we are constantly scrolling through our LinkedIn feeds, so it's only natural that our first episode, the first chapter of the 'First' should be about the first post on LinkedIn.

Let's begin, but firstly, let me ask you- When was the first time that you heard of LinkedIn? Heard of it before going to college? I am sure most of you tuned it out. Let me share how I met LinkedIn.

Honestly, I was freaking scared when I first got to know that there exists a platform known as LinkedIn. Yeah! And if all of you are like - "How can you be afraid of LinkedIn and that too in College", let me tell you one thing. Unlike others, I knew about LinkedIn in school but I was really confused. I was literally like-"People are supposed to get jobs through campus interviews, what the heck it is? Now we are supposed to learn it too so that we can get jobs?"

Both work side-by-side. "OMG! how does it work? Really! Bosses reply to people on LinkedIn? The platform must be complex to understand!" - I thought to myself.

Well, I guess they were all valid questions for a guy who just got to know about the Internet world. So what do you think I do? I... Umn, ignored it??.

(Personal tippani... LinkedIn is nothing to be afraid of, even my teachers were not on LinkedIn and they earn well so that they can go on a trip per month (out of station) with their own money).

Okay so, let's not get distracted now, let's continue.

After two years of ignoring it, I got face-to-face with LinkedIn in my college, actually, at JIC to be more precise. Oh! You don't know JIC? what an odd one. Okay, let me tell you, JIC or JECRC Incubation Centre, Foundation , a community in our college. JIC is a place where you can unleash your creativity without any restraint. If you like to know JIC from my eyes, you can check out one of my previous LinkedIn posts - JIC in my eyes.

Again, back to the topic!

College forced me to meet LinkedIn but JIC helped me befriend him. I clearly remember how I wrote my first post on LinkedIn, my first day at JIC as a volunteer, everyone was tirelessly working, keeping their heads busy for the betterment of work, and suddenly someone voices - "Guys, stop what you are doing and open LinkedIn. Write a post sharing your experience of working here or anything related to the work you have done". And I was like-"How am I supposed to write a post on a professional platform? I don't even know how it works! I am not a content writer. Ahh, what a hassle..".

Mustering some courage, I asked the MAN- "Sir how am I supposed to write a post, I know nothing" and he said- "Just write it. Not necessarily long, but just write." And that's how I wrote my first-ever LinkedIn post. Wait a minute, if you remember I mentioned a MAN who told us to stop our work and write the post, If you didn't guess who that MAN was, I don't know what to say, I am speechless.

Anyway, if you want to read my first-ever LinkedIn post you can read it, but not my first writing, Yes I edited it. But you can still read my second post if you want to know how bad I used to be at the very initial days of my journey.

Bye-bye to the first chapter of the "First" (man it took me long to write it). Tell me you good or bad you find it. And yes, the last question of the chapter (Your Home Work)- What will be the topic of the Second Chapter?
