First-of-its-kind roadmap to get in the mix ???

EVENTS? ?|? ?CURRENT ACTION PLAN? ?|? ?RESOURCES? ?|? ?GO TO SLACK?

It’s not every day that Rep. Mike Levin comes to town (Zoom Town, anyway) and delivers zingy one-liners like:?"It should not be easier to build a multi-state pipeline than a multi-state transmission line."

Today kicks off Week 2 of 5 in our advocacy campaign on transmission reform,?an?incredibly important?climate solution that has typically been left to the ~professional advocates.~ But expanding the U.S. power grid also needs public support to make progress, and this campaign gives us a roadmap to actually get in the mix and make an impact. So let's get in the mix!?

One important stop on the roadmap is to meet with our members of Congress for a constituent meeting.?This is?the most impactful civic action we can take, and we'll use the opportunity to urge our reps to co-sponsor some awesome federal bills that would enable us to fully embrace U.S. clean energy potential.?I'm excited!

If you're feeling apprehensive about being face-to-face with a congressional staffer, I promise it's not so scary. You'll be on Zoom with a small group of fellow changemakers, and the staffers are normal people who also just want to make the world a better place.

Knock knock! Can I talk to you about my top priority, climate action?

ACTION PLAN: WEEK 2/5 ??Expanding the U.S. Power Grid

The U.S. power grid is outdated and fragmented — and that’s a big?problem. Transmission reform is an essential step toward fully embracing our clean energy future, and?there are a few proposed federal transmission bills to address it. We can urge policymakers to 1) make it easier to build new transmission lines and 2) improve existing grid efficiency.?See the 5-step Action Plan!

GET TO KNOW THE GRID ?? Mind-boggling bottleneck fact

A recent study by Berkeley Lab found ~2,000 GW of clean energy in the interconnection queue, meaning it can't start generating until it's approved to connect to the grid. To put that number in perspective, the?total generation capacity?of all?existing power plants is ~1,250 GW.?In a country with a gas-dominated power sector and increasing demand for electricity, we need all the added transmission capacity we can get.?See full Issue Briefing.
