The First Noel "Toy Drive" #GiveBack
In the story of Saint Nicholas, "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," we are influenced by his vision for giving everything he owns to people in need.
We are collecting unwrapped toys for all families in the Central Florida area. Our goal is to spread the real meaning of Christmas and give back to those in need.
This Christmas we decided to give back to the community in a big way. My boyfriend Garret Deaton and I decided buying just one toy for a child in need wasn’t enough, so we created our own toy drive "The First Noel" for our local families.
Three days in and we already have 50 families in need ! I didn't know it was possible from reading each story for it to total break my heart and at the same time make me feel so grateful.
One of our families wrote "We moved 2 days after the hurricane. The cost of living here is much higher than we anticipated :( We have been paying for our daughters $300 a month seizure medication out of pocket waiting on her SSI/Medicaid to go through here in Florida. She has down syndrome and was diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia July 2016. She was given 6 weeks to live but by a miracle from God she has been in remission since January 2017. It's just been really tough to get on our feet and we are barely getting by. My husband has been struggling to find work because to avoid daycare costs, he stays home with our 4 yr old son during the day while I work. Christmas is going to be really hard this year :( If we could just get some help with Christmas Dinner we could maybe swing a couple gifts ourselves. Reagan is 16, Ethan is 12, Kendal is 10 and Kobe is 4. We appreciate any help you may offer us, Thank you!!! "
