\*First Nations* on the Frontline/

???Like Canadian Ojibway sniper and war hero Francis Pegahmagabow here -(https://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remembrance/people-and-stories/francis-pegahmagabow and -https://allthatsinteresting.com/francis-pegahmagabow), the First Nations people of Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, etc., also have fought for freedom for the world.

Yet their story of involvement is unique.

???Whether in WWI, WWII, the Korean War etc., their particular talents, strengths and training made an amazing contribution to the war effort.

And to fight for the cause, these people also have made sacrifices that may be challenging for non-indigenous people to understand. The final blow – most of their stories and recognition were forgotten, denigrated, downplayed or simply never known.

???And one of the news stories below describes one First Nations man who fought with WWII Allies on an equal basis and was awarded for his bravery by King George VI, yet was refused restaurant service in his Canadian home town, and arrested for his resistance.

Thank goodness for the internet, and the gratifying way technology can connect us with the past, help us find those stories of special, courageous wartime achievement, and herald them for all eternity.

???I feel I could write several tomes, but for now, I've gathered a rich variety of books and news stories...with perhaps more to come! (BTW, I sometimes think of how my father Tadeusz, a 2nd-Lt. (9th Artillery) with the Polish II Corps in WWII, fought alongside New Zealand 'First Nations' Maori soldiers amongst the Allies at Monte Cassino and in the whole Italian campaign.)

Our First Nations on the frontline is a subject deserving of great recognition and understanding. And I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
