The First Law of AI Collaboration

I hope you are having a fun and feisty #FlexFriday. I am in the midst of writing our company's official policy and guidelines for using #AI and #GenAI (both internal and external).

Here is the First Law of AI Collaboration. It is part of our comprehensive official policy on AI and Gen AI usage, and it is or will be signed by all employees, from the CEO, CAIO, sales executives, developers, and managers to the newest associates. There are no exceptions.

Video Interview, Update on November 1st, 2024.

I highly recommend you listen to this interview about the First Law of AI Collaboration. It's a gem by Google AI NotebookLM. First Law of AI Collaboration Document

A Commitment to #AI Responsibility, Integrity, and Quality from the CAIO desk.

In the fast-paced world of AI, where algorithms can now aid in tasks ranging from generating content to creating innovative solutions, it is crucial to remember one fundamental principle: the First Law of AI Collaboration.

I, Duc Haba, #CAIO of GenAI World Association {or your name}, a human, take 100% responsibility for the work that I produce.

This promise is a declaration and a commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity and quality in everything I do with AI and GenAI assistance. In a time when AI tools can enhance our capabilities, maintaining the honor system is more important than ever, ensuring that we do not forsake our personal human accountability.

What Does 100% Responsibility Mean?

Taking full responsibility means that I, a human, claim ownership over:

+ Every Word:

Each sentence crafted carries my stamp of authenticity. Whether aided by GenAI or not, the words reflect my thoughts, intentions, and values.

+ Every Fact:

Accuracy is non-negotiable. The facts I present are thoroughly vetted with or without GenAI aid, and I stand by them, ready to correct any errors with transparency.

+ Every Mistake:

Perfection is elusive, but responsibility is not. If a mistake occurs, I own it, learn from it, and will correct it.

+ Every Image, Audio, and Video:

Creativity takes many forms, and I ensure that all multimedia content I create, with or without GenAI, is original. I respect copyright laws and ethical standards while aligning with the truth and serving its intended purpose with integrity.

+ Every Thought, Invention, and Innovation:

Ideas are powerful, and I take pride in ensuring that mine are original, with or without GenAI assistance, well-considered, and responsibly implemented.

+ Every Nuance and Innuendo:

Subtlety and tone are just as vital as the message itself. I take full ownership of how every nuance and innuendo in my work is presented and understood. If there's any misinterpretation or unintended impact, it's on me—not the GenAI assistance—because I am responsible for ensuring the clarity and intention behind every word.

In addition, I pledge to uphold the following two pillars.

1. The Honor System: A Pillar of Trust

The honor system is the backbone of all meaningful human endeavors. In the context of AI collaboration, it requires that we, as human operators, never shy away from the responsibility that comes with using these powerful tools. GenAI may assist, but ultimately, humans must ensure that the output is ethical, accurate, and of the highest quality.

2. Quality Over Speed: The True Measure of Success

In today's fast-paced world, there is a temptation to prioritize speed over quality. However, true success is measured not by how quickly we can produce results but by the quality of those results. While GenAI can help us move faster, it should never come at the expense of thoroughness and thoughtfulness.

Every piece of work I deliver reflects my commitment to these principles. While GenAI is a valuable partner, I am responsible for ensuring that the work meets the highest standards. These principles are the essence of The First Law of AI Collaboration.

Moving Forward: A Call to Action

As we continue to integrate GenAI into our daily workflows, let's remember that the tools we use are only as good as the intentions and care we bring to them. I challenge my fellow professionals, especially CAIOs, to embrace these responsibilities, uphold the honor system, and always prioritize quality over speed and convenience.

To be direct, I challenge you to sign and uphold The First Law of AI Collaboration.

Together, we can lead by example, ensuring that our collaborations with AI and GenAI enhance our capabilities and strengthen trust and integrity in our workplace.

Dear Duc Haba, Unfortunately, we can sign whatever we want but, .... AI Kingdom is coming.... They won't have souls.... Any word (including "ethic") won't have any (at least contemporary) meaning... ..... Sincerely, Ramaz https://avramaerospace.com/

Bravo to this. I don't fear AI taking my job, or taking over the world. I fear the unethical use of AI. This type of pledge should be signed by not just content creators, but by every C-level person in every organization. This commitment to integrity is crucial to the ethical advancement of AI and it's use to better humanity, not control it.
