The First Key to Eternal Impact

The First Key to Eternal Impact

Have you ever considered what it means to impact eternity? Do we live as if our actions matter?

When God uses your actions to impact the eternal life of another person, your effort counts forever. If we believe this, why wouldn’t we stay right next to God, ready to go in on a moment’s notice?

The first verse and idea of the Ministry Mindset Challenge is that we pray without ceasing. God is working (John 5:17) and the result of his work last forever. How can we cooperate with God if we do not understand what he wants done?

Many people doubt that God speaks to us. I’ve never “heard” God through my ears, but I have in my mind. And his bible is his word to us (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Most of us know more than we do, anyway. We know not to lie or steal. We know we should love others as we love ourselves (Mark 12:28-34). But daily we fail to do what we know.

Other times God gave me a compelling idea or taught me something from his inspired word. Often those two events happen together. As I’m reading scripture, I will get the idea I need to connect with or pray for a friend. I’ll often stop and pray. Later, when I send a note, I learned they had something going on at the time of my prayer. God uses my prayers to keep me in tune with his work.

Other times, I get a strange idea. I may need to pay for someone’s meal or show a coworker how to do something. Maybe I need to invite my coworker to lunch or coffee to know them better.

Every God-idea begins with God and I receive it by prayer. Prayer isn’t just me talking to God, but he directs, guides, challenges and convicts me. My prayers tune me into God. I want to be available. I hope God uses me to make eternal differences in the lives of people around me.

If we believe we will live forever and our Lord and King is Jesus, then why wouldn’t we communicate with him? He created us for specific jobs (Ephesians 2:10). He is working in the lives of everyone around us. Each day, God is calling people to himself. By praying without ceasing, I get ready and sometimes God uses me to impact eternity.

Do you think Jesus saved to keep you out of trouble until you go to heaven? The Ministry Mindset Challenge is a 4-week email challenge to equip you to minister to others in your daily job. Are you up to the challenge?
