Agency to Meet Critical Needs in Mental Health Services
The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) is making significant strides in mental health care with the grand opening of the 707 Crisis Care Center. This pioneering facility, located at 707 W. Milwaukee Street in the heart of Detroit, officially opened its doors on Monday, June 10th at 8:00 am, offering 24/7 support for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
"This is an inspiring day for DWIHN and the community as we continue leading the way in crisis care for the region," stated Eric Doeh, President and CEO of DWIHN.
A Comprehensive Approach to Crisis Care
The 707 Crisis Care Center is set to revolutionize crisis care delivery in Detroit. Unlike traditional emergency departments, which often struggle to provide specialized mental health support, this new center will offer comprehensive services under one roof. These services include Crisis Walk-Ins, Crisis Stabilization, and a peer-led program called BEST (Building Empowered Supportive Transition). The center aims to provide immediate and effective care by bringing these critical services together, alleviating the pressure on local emergency departments. This initiative is a significant step towards addressing the region's pressing need for specialized mental health services.
Tailored Support for Adults and Adolescents
The facility will serve adults and adolescents, offering evaluations to determine the need for crisis-level services. With the addition of 32 beds to DWIHN's Crisis Continuum of Care, the 707 Crisis Care Center ensures that individuals in need have access to around-the-clock support.
For those requiring assistance, the center is accessible via a crisis hotline at 313-989-9444 or through walk-in services, where professional staff will promptly attend to them.

A Vision for Expanded Outreach
"With a population of approximately 1.6 million people, Wayne County should have at least three crisis centers to serve individuals in need, from Western Wayne to Downriver," remarked Doeh. "The 707 Crisis Care Center is the start of that outreach, providing access to quality behavioral healthcare services, no matter zip code, age, or race."
