First Issue: October 2023

Welcome to the Corrugated Connections newsletter!

Before we dive into our first issue, let’s address a couple questions that may be lingering in the forefront of your mind. What does “Corrugated Connections” mean? And why should I read it every month?

Great questions. Fortunately, the answer to the first one naturally provides the answer to the second. So, to start us all on the same page, let’s define “corrugated.” Corrugated is an umbrella term that includes, among several other packaging and display products, the commonly known cardboard box. (Professionals in the industry just gasped and recoiled in horror upon hearing the “c-board” word.)

All joking aside, the corrugated industry is filled with many unique terms. If you’re new to the corrugated packaging world, this barrage of novel terms can be confusing and intimidating, especially if they’ve never been defined for you. Luckily, we have a handy glossary available below for anyone who wants to start speaking corrugated like a pro.

Now that we’ve got the corrugated part of “Corrugated Connections” covered, let’s turn to the connections. Corrugated packaging touches our lives in countless ways — some obvious and some not so much.

Corrugated packaging is intimately connected to a surprising proportion of any business’ operations. From receiving to warehousing, packing, shipping, branding, product marketing and beyond — corrugated packaging impacts the value chain at nearly every turn.

And each of these touchpoints represents an opportunity to reduce costs, optimize operations and/or connect with consumers. Future editions of “Corrugated Connections” will provide strategies and tips that will help you capitalize on these opportunities.

And finally, corrugated circulates throughout entire industries, both far and wide. Whether your business is in food and beverage, retail, wholesale, e-commerce, manufacturing, automotive, agriculture or any industry that transports physical products, there are corrugated solutions customized to your needs.

As a supplement to these solutions, this newsletter will deliver packaging insights and trends specific to each of these industries — insights like the several found in our article focused on Young Living, a direct-to-consumer (DTC) retailer of personal wellness products. Through a partnership with PCA, Young Living was able to solve persistent production problems, all while reducing costs and meeting its sustainability goals. See the specifics here.

If you made it to this point, thank you for reading. We hope we’ve answered your questions about what “Corrugated Connections” is and how it can bring you value every month.
