This influencer marketing industry report recently released by Insider Intelligence is full of amazing insights around the development of the social media industry is rising faster than traditional advertising. One of our favorite callouts from the article is that over time, social networks are driving slightly away from the ‘social’ aspects, and more-so towards the entertainment aspects, especially with short-form platforms like TikTok taking over the scene. As a result of ad sales slumping in the US, Elon announced in this tweet that he’s going to take it out on the ADL. Musk is accusing the ADL of “trying to kill the platform by falsely accusing it and me of being anti-semitic.".? In a later tweet, Musk mentioned “We no longer need to restore US advertising to prior levels for survival.”. Could this whole thing be a PR stunt? Surely if you’re tweeting about the impact of these claims as the reason you’re suing, then you tweet that it’s actually not that impactful to your core business, that’s only hurting your case. Right??
Instagram is testing new creative options?for its short-form video solution, Reels. TikTok was testing something similar last year and it hasn’t taken off in the ways that they’d hoped. Instagram isn’t TikTok, though, and the platform has been around way before the short-form video boom took over. Its users were around in the seemingly ancient times before scrolling existed, so maybe those users will be more adaptive to a change like this. ?
