First Impression of Confidence
Boost Your Self-Esteem and Gain Confidence
Close your eyes and do not open again until you think about three things you love about your body. Do you love your long legs, your flat stomach, the gentle curves of your figure, the glow of your skin, the color of your eyes? As women, we spend far too much time thinking about the things we would change about our bodies and instead of working on what to change, we should be spending our time thinking about what we want to enhance. We have this love/hate relationship with ourselves and we should be embracing the wonderful aspects of ourselves.
How do we do that? We have all heard the words asking if we would talk to our friends the way we talk to ourselves, and we need to start doing that.
So, step one is start talking to yourself as your friend. Practice this and it will get better. Be that friend to those in your circle to help them make this transition.
Step two is evaluate everything in your wardrobe. While I do not agree with everything from Marie Kondo, I do agree that your attire should bring you joy. Throw away that rule whereupon if you have not worn a garment in one year, two year, whatever the time frame it needs to go. The decision comes from how does that piece make you feel, does it bring you joy? Put away the pieces you are unsure of for three months. If during that 90 day period, you did not get it out, relate to how you felt when you saw it again. If you loved it, missed it and felt happy to see it, then keep it.
The only exception to this rule is that if the item does not fit, do not keep it. Do not save garments for that time when that magical five, ten, twenty pounds comes off your body. You deserve to have clothing on your body that not only looks amazing, but feels amazing when you put it on. Those items in your wardrobe that do not do that right now have no place and need to be donated or discarded.
Step three is to stop shopping by size. Sizes on clothing varies. Personally, when I am purchasing European shoes, I wear anywhere from a 38 to a 39 1/2. Why is it a surprise that clothing has these variances as well? There are many reasons for this and that is for another time, but stop looking at the number and letting that number judge you.
Step four is to everyday and I mean everyday put on something that makes you happy. Whether it is a pair of shoes, a piece of jewelry, your favorite jeans or trousers, plan your outfit around this. It could be an incredible bra or undergarment that only you know is there, it does not matter. What matters is that you feel good every time you have this on.
Pull this love out and watch your confidence grow. For those of you that have been reading this fabulous newsletter weekly will recall that I have mentioned this before. It begets mentioning again. Others react to your level of confidence, the more you project, the more others will be drawn to you and the greater influence you will have. This brings you to higher levels of success and respect personally and professionally.
The three things I love about my body? My long and slender legs, my blue eyes with the yellow circle around the pupil inherited from my father, my porcelain skin that has never suffered from breakouts courtesy of my mother. Further, I love the newly blond hair I have and the way it finally grew back into a chic bob. While I have aged, my arms somehow have not and wearing sleeveless is an excellent option. Lastly, the lines that have formed from smiling over the years including the dimple lines on my cheeks and the smile lines around my mouth.
That is six, how about you?
Be powerful. Be impressive. Be memorable.
