“First Federal Lakewood was there for us when others were not.”

Hearing those words from Lu Anne Peters, the executive director of Lexington Bell Community Center, served as a gratifying reminder of First Federal Lakewood’s unwavering commitment to making a difference in the communities we serve.

Lexington Bell does great work strengthening and empowering the community by providing a range of social, educational and recreational programming to local families and children. The nonprofit is located in the same community as our branch in Dave’s Market.

Yet when the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, the center faced the very real possibility of shutting down those programs at a time when those they serve needed them more than ever.

The root of the challenge was that Lexington Bell had outdated technology that made it difficult or impossible to connect with many of the families who had typically visited the center in-person for services and activities.?

Lexington Bell turned to First Federal Lakewood for help. Seeing the urgency of their situation, we provided a grant that allowed them to quickly upgrade their digital technology. As a result, they were able help families in need without any interruption of services. ?

On my recent visit, Lu Anne Peters insisted on providing me with a tour to show me how the grant dollars were put to good use.?

First Federal Lakewood is proud that we were there for Lexington Bell in their time of need. As a community bank, helping out our neighbors will always be at the heart of how we do business.??
