Raw Selection has put together a short series of blogs in order give our audience a better understanding of the Private Equity world.
The first PE boom was noted to be between 1982 and 1993. This time period contained one of the largest booms in Private Equity history, and is more closely associated with the leveraged buyout than any decade before or since.
In 1980, the PE industry raised about $2.4 billion of annual investor commitments and by the end of the decade, the outstanding growth figure was at the $21.9 billion mark.
Entering the public consciousness for the first time was the ability that PE firms could affect mainstream companies, along the lines of hostile overthrows and buyouts.
In our next Private Equity blog, we discuss the changes in the Private Equity industry today compared to the beginning of the profession.
If you have any questions about the PE industry, or would like to share some facts of your own, then please reach out to Alex at [email protected]
