First-ever e-internship program & Onboarding experience during Covid19 pandemic
Both unprecedented and uncertain, 2020 has been a year like no other! But we'd like to end it off with some positive memories.
Mid 2020, we planned for the first-ever e-internship program! Since many of the graduates who got placed through the campus drive were facing the issue of extending an offer; date of joining not confirmed..etc. Intern hiring requires so much energy it can be easy to think that the work ends there. But we were well planned on the program to pick the best from the pool. We saw the challenge of new ways of working as an opportunity to give students a unique experience that wouldn't prevent them from living out this memorable moment of their lives!
And by July this year, we shortlisted around 200 graduates from 7 campuses in Kochi. With the help of our product, @Heyform - we did the candidate registration and successfully conducted the General aptitude and coding test for the entire registered students. It was immense happiness that we could filtering and analysis the result with help of the Heyform tool - we evaluated the result and published the rank list on the same day.
Within the same week, we started our one to one HR telephone interview and confirmed their interest in being a part of our internship program. Finally from the rank list, we confirmed 17 students to our Heyooo family for the 3month internship program. As we know a strong onboarding plan can help interns learn quickly and contribute to their internship fully. we formulated an onboarding plan to give a month self-study program language to know how each takes responsibility and initiative (given the topics and study materials).
Next month, we split them into 4group and given an assignment, and voted a team leader for each to report the daily status of the work to the Line Manager and Mentors to help them in the programming section and project implementation part. Given continuous evaluation feedback and suggestions to the members for a 2months on the task. After successful completion of their task, all the assignments are evaluated by the Senior Development team.
Once after the submission and evaluation, we have asked for some modification on the task to know who in-depth they have worked on the concept and knowledge in the re-engineering part. Successful students took HR round and Technical interviews with the team.
Finally, at the end of the intern program, we got the best 7 out of 17 shortlisted students. The decision making was so tight as all the students where equal performance. We discided to go for a 24hours task to each; the evaluation was based on the clear coding, understanding of requirement and method used to complete the task and onboarded 2 students - the best pick for the e-interns! @Jeen Chirayath & @Donna CC
