First details on the keynotes of Meeting C++ 2024
This year Meeting C++ 2024 hosts 4 keynotes, which is unique to this year and the 4th keynote speaker is Herb Sutter!
The Keynote speakers are Titus Winters, Hana Dusíková, Herb Sutter and Peter Sommerlad.
I'm in the unique situation to share a bit on 3 of the 4 keynotes. As its not required to submit an abstract or title, often only the title is known for Keynotes at Meeting C++.
Opening Keynote
Titus Winters is giving the first keynote and kicking of the conference with it. He wrote a book about his views and practices on Software Engineering at Google, where he was one of the thought leaders for C++ and its developer experience. He works now at Adobe focusing on developer experience. His keynote is very much about this, the developer experience: "In this talk I’ll shine a light on fear, uncertainty, and doubt in tech, before suggesting practices and tools to change the mood. We will revisit research on the importance of teamwork, culture, and communication, highlighting why basic tools for culture and understanding are powerful weapons in our fight against fear in tech."
Evening Keynote
Herb Sutter is coming to visit Meeting C++! Herb has chosen to speak about the future of C++ , and he will focus on 3 central features:

Herb is bullish on C++, and in his keynote he will show how "ISO C++ has long been solidly in the top 5 programming languages and is going strong. This talk presents reasons to expect that C++’s future is bright, and that perhaps its most important decade is just ahead."
Closing Keynote
Peter Sommerlad gives this years closing keynote . Peter will share with us his thoughts on over 40 years of experience in Software Developement as a developer and teacher. His title "Collective Amnesia?" hints at his goal to speak about patterns he has seen again and again in his career. And his thoughts on how to improve on our processes, so that future generations don't have to make the same mistakes again.
See you at Meeting C++ 2024!
And with that - as I said - we're in the unique situation that you actually know some bits about the 3 of the 4 keynotes. As of today there is no further details on the center keynote given by Hana Dusíková, which is totally normal for Meeting C++. So now you know a bit of what to expect and that even one more surprise is waiting in the keynotes!
Last but not least let me share my own view on this. Meeting C++ has always selected Keynote speakers, not topics. Unlike talks, keynotes do not go through a review and hence mostly do not have a submitted abstract. And if they do, its often different from what it would be if the same topic would be submitted as a normal talk. And even talks often stray away from what the original submission had in mind. So take the descriptions of keynotes with a grain of salt. Every keynote speaker is going to work on their presentation until the last night to add and remove things.
