First Day On The Set of Vanishing Act
Today we had our first day of principal photography at The Reindeer Inn, Grantham!?
The day started at 6am, Jack Kinch was on transport duty for the day getting us all to set by 8am. Me and Jake Jarnell set up the Alexa while the rest of the crew helped with lighting and preparing the actors for our first shot of the day.
We had limited time in this location so it was all on hands on deck to start shooting by 9am.?
The atmosphere on set was positive and I feel we built up a good relationship with our actors who were great and really cooperative with any direction given.
The noir aspects really came through and I was overall happy with the outcome of the shots. We used the Deido Daylights in order to create that Chiascuro lighting effect, in addition to this I selected a mist filter to enhance the glow of the lights as this is an effect that I loved in 30s/40s film noirs.?For future shoots I will definitely be using the stronger filters to give off that airbrushed look that the women of these films used to be synonymous with.
Luckily, we were ahead of schedule so I could play around with angles a bit more which I think will benefit the film as it will create a lot more interest on screen.?
Today was a huge success- Another early start for day 2, hoping for another smooth day.
