First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Nelson Estepa
Vice President of Membership and Retention at First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Dear Linked In members,
The First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FCHCC) is preparing for its signature yearly event. During the past 23 years this organization has been focusing on matters that are important to the Hispanic business community of northeast Florida in their quest for success.
Future entrepreneurs is one of those initiatives of high importance to the Hispanic Chamber. Hispanic student’s success is an important part of the FCHCC efforts to improve their hopes for future triumph. Two examples of the results of these efforts are current active members of FCHCC who joined the Hispanic Chamber when they were students at UNF.
Gianinna Cooper is a young professional lady who engage with the FCHCC back in 2010 while a student at UNF. She and other students being coached by Professor Andres Gallo, Professor of Economics at the Cogging College of Business, initiated a student group that became affiliated with the FCHCC and engaged as volunteers during the organizations events. This provided them the opportunity to meet and engage with Executives and business owners.
Gianinna completed her education and obtained her degree. It is important to mention that among her many achievements, she applied and received a scholarship awarded by FCHCC in 2011. Subsequently, she has remained actively involved with our organization to this date.
Gianinna is currently employed by CSX Transportation as Customer Coordinator and was appointed as Chair of the Philanthropy Committee of FCHCC.
The second example in question is Emmanuel Matias. He similarly graduated from the Cogging College of Business at UNF and became active with the student group affiliated to FCHCC. He currently holds an important position with BI-LO Holdings/Winn Dixie and is the Director of the Membership Committee with FCHCC.
It is obvious that Gianinna and Emmanuel’s relation with the Hispanic Chamber must have had some impact in their professional success. For this and many other reasons is why it’s so important for the Hispanic Business Community to support the FCHCC and the Achieving the Dream Scholarship Program.
The Achieving the Dream Scholarship awards luncheon is scheduled for October 16, 2015 at the Omni Hotel in Jacksonville Florida. There will be 16 scholarships awarded to deserving Hispanic students. I encourage you to visit the FCHCC Webpage www.fchcc.com for sponsorship opportunities or additional details on how to contribute to this noble cause.
