The First ten days of Dhul-Hijjah–Be Eager to benefit from them before they elapse
There are no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these (ten) days [Imaam Bukharee]
~ Salaah: Give more emphasis and concern to the obligatory and increase in optional prayers (Qiyam-ul-layl, salaatud-dua, etc.)
~ Fast: Fasting the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah is strongly recommended. [Imaam Ahmad, An-Nasaaee, Imaam an-Nawawee]
~ Fasting the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul-Hijjah): expiation from (minor) sins of previous year and year to come. Not for the one physically present at Arafah. [Imaam Tirmidhee, Imaam Muslim]
~ Dhikr: Remember Allah often, engage in lot of dhikr, morning, evening supplications
~ The Takbeer, Tahleel and Tahmeed: Increase in takbeer, tahleel tahmeed [Imaam Bukhari]

~ Qur'an: Recite in abundance and ponder upon its verses
~ Repentance and obedience to Allah: Seek sincere repentance and keep away from sins and disobedience, because sins prevent a person from receiving the favours of His Lord
~ Enjoin good, forbid evil
~ Other good deeds: Strive to the performance of other good deeds, like charity, kindness to parents, maintaining the ties of kinship, fulfilling the rights of neighbours and other fellow muslims.
