First Ashes Test PitchScan

A very different Ashes pitch to what we saw last year. This pitch took spin from Day 1 and Lyon in particular extracted good bounce and spin over his counterpart Ali.

Note the differences between this years PitchScan and last years. If you recall, last year was a Day/Nighter and meant the pitch wasn't as exposed to the hot sun during the day.

Last years pitch saw Seam and swing, which was a combination of the Pitch (indicated by more lighter colours in the PitchScan) and humidity as it was played in December rather than November.

It is also worth noting that curators have a difficult job in that the pitch is generally cut 12-14 days in advance and if you don't get a good window of weather, this does affect the pitch. Sometimes your watering schedule needs adjusting and other times it means less time on the roller.
