The first 5 books ...

A box arrived to the charity: water office today, with the first five hardcover copies of THIRST.

I was surprised at how much emotion I felt when I opened the box and held the very first book in my hand. The crazy journey to bring this 100,000 word project to life began more than two years ago. At times, it put a huge strain on my marriage, and confused my oldest child who wondered why I would leave for weekends and then weeks at a time to “write daddy’s book” instead of biking or scooting or swimming and building Magna-Tile castles with him. Little did he know that the book advance and proceeds (if there even was one or any) was always intended to be his and his sister’s college fund.

But ... at the last minute ... after 7 publishers bid on the project, my wife and I felt that all the money from the book should go to @charitywater so we could sleep soundly at night. Because charity: water wasn’t my story or Vik's story and it actually hadn’t been for many years. It was the story of over 1 million people from 100 countries who’d rejected apathy and generously given over $300 million to now help 8.4 million people in 26 countries get clean water to the first time. As I reflect on the pages, I'm so incredibly proud of the people I’ve had the honor of highlighting within these pages, and I can’t wait to put THIRST out into the world on October 2.

If you’re a charity: water fan or supporter or a friend.... something cool happened... A longtime donor who read THIRST loved the book. He put up up $300,000 of his own money to be unlocked through a preorder campaign. So, if you buy a book (up to 10,000 books!!!), in any format, (including Kindle or eBooks) and forward the receipt to [email protected] - he will give $30 in your name... and give one new person clean water.

I invite you into this story. And really hope you might find something that deeply inspires you within.

Got this book as a gift and I read parts of it to my kids. My daughter who is 9 wants to start a fund raising program. This is how God plants seeds.?
