The First 24 Hours: Day 17 — Bhai Partyyy!

The First 24 Hours: Day 17 — Bhai Partyyy!

No matter where you live, there will always be someone who is unnecessarily excited about his/her birthday doubting your excitement hormones for treating your birthday as a normal day.

I am that kid!

Maybe you won’t believe but I have a plan for my next birthday by the end of my ongoing birthday. I was that kid who used to treat everyone from the principal to the watchman and has special quotas(and types) of chocolate for students depending upon their level of friendship with me.

I used to believe that everyone is(and should) be this much excited but the process of perceiving birthdays has changed over time. I am from an engineering college where the boy’s birthday means his death(BPL and the attached torture) and girl’s birthday means a picture with fairy lights on the top of every human in the picture.

Also, I have noticed that the “Happy Birthday“ has evolved as a “Bhai party” and is now extended to many relatable and/or not relatable domains.

Last night, I was having a conversation with my friend and she told me about her lost excitement for her special days because the people around do not connect to her energy. I was disappointed for a moment but immediately realized that the same thing has happened with me as well. I do not plan my birthday and special days anymore because I lack the company to discuss my plans with. After the conversation, I realized that it actually is a very general and broad topic. We stopped enjoying ourselves and somewhere down the heart we miss that moment!

Many people are convinced that excitement will and should go with time(and age) but that’s not how it works! The major reason is something else.

Our accomplishments, celebrations and even personal relationships, all have become relative nowadays and the major problem with this system is, there will always be someone better than us making us feel less worthy to celebrate!

But in reality, Celebrations are underrated.

I advise each one of you to maintain a record of your personal achievements and celebrate things even when no will be able to relate to your celebration.

Be the “Bhai Party!” person to yourself more than anyone else in this world because it will not only motivate you to keep going but will also help you to enjoy the process!

And if ever at any point you think that you’re too old to have a celebration, think about Mayawati(not kidding) and you will realize that “Abhi toh tum jawaan hi ho!”
