The First 24 Hours: Day 14— Dobara Mat Poochna!

The First 24 Hours: Day 14— Dobara Mat Poochna!

Happy Anniversary to the most how-they-end-up-together couple of my lifetime!

You know it’s kinda weird(and awkward) to say such things about your own parents(and risky as well considering they still pay your expenses xD) but as today I should not have anything more important than this to write, continuing to this will be your personal choice!

I’ve grown up in an Air Force campus disciplined environment with partially conservative parents. In my family, talking about things like marriage and relationships were never common. Though the overall experience was decent(at least for me) as I have a super chill(and Bechara) elder brother to take all the responsibilities, but now as I look back, it feels so proud to realize that my parents and their parenting(with a little contribution of my Bhaiya and me) have evolved a lot in these years.

Just as an example, we were not allowed to put passwords in our phones back in our school times but now my parents never attempt to hinder our privacy or have the urge to peek into our phones in our absence whenever we go home.

On their anniversary, I would like to share some of the lessons my parents(and I guess every parent) have tried teaching their kids:

  1. Eating together(despite the work and schedule, eating together is important. Afterall, when else will you get time to officially discuss all of your sins since Pichle Janam other than your dining time!)
  2. Ask for permission(be it eating Bournvita, watching TV, sleeping in the other room or Breathing(\o/), if you don’t have permission, you are doing it all wrong!)
  3. Be Independent(‘lock the door from inside and do not open it for anyone unless I come back”, this came every day to us when both of our parents were about to go to work from the very beginning of our childhood)
  4. Explore the Talents( Poem, Singing, Dancing, Doctor, Narayan Bhagwaan and even Gangubai Kaamwali, you name it and my mom has made me do the role at school competitions!)
  5. Travel your heart out but Travel with Parents(Do you still think Dussehra Mela and Diwali cracker shows are not cool while restaurant and movie dates are cool? Revisit with your parents and you definitely need to think again!)
  6. Be Dheeth and know your worthnothing in life comes easy! (Have you ever been to a Bank or a Sabji Mandi with your mom? Have you not experienced the ‘mom’s walking out strategy’ that works 99% of the time? The experience speaks for itself)
  7. Keep your personal and professional life separate and stay loyal to both of them. (your parents’ efforts towards their work despite the mood, health, and horoscope(pandit family xD) will always be the best motivation you can ever get!)
  8. The “Dobara mat Poochna” logic( You already know this, jo keh-diya-so-keh-diya ab parents se zubaan mt ladaa and dobara mt poochna!)

Though the list goes on, I think I should save some of them for the next occasion!

And to my super supportive and amazing parents,

Thank you for putting your efforts and life out into us. We are and will always be grateful to you and try our level best to make you feel proud.

I can write many more articles like this bas “Paise Bhejtey Rehna xD

Happiest Marriage Anniversary. Love you!
