Dancing lights in the night
A real visual delight
Colours flickering and free
Moving in and out of the trees
Like mystic fairies
Gracefully moving in time and harmony
A secret revealed and lovely to see
Brightening the darkest of places
A sense of wonder and magic on our faces
The fireflies put on their show
Natures beauty and warm glow
These lightning bugs are like traffic lights
Changing colours through the night
Some are amber, some are pale red and others bright green
A spectacular scene
The males put on a real display
Bioluminescence shows the way
They attract a mate whilst they play
They also like to hunt their prey
Twilight is the chosen hour
To approach their glowing flower
To light the night with love
Another gift from above
Their young are glow worms lighting up the ground
One of the best shows for miles around
Majestic and free this beetle family
A gift to enjoy at night
A truly wonderful sight
The beauty of nature is all around
A lovely present just waiting to be found x
