THEY FIRED ME

My heart goes out to all our fellow connections on LinkedIn who have been rendered unemployed due to cost cutting measures as a result of the covid19 pandemic.
My heart goes out to you, my fellow brothers and sisters who are desperately looking for employment opportunities at this moment just to survive, just to provide for your families and just to pay your bills.
When you're up, you will be the talk of the town. You will be the center stage of your family, friends and colleagues. You will always have friends calling you and talking nice things about you and you will even have the admiration of your colleagues. But when you're down, expect almost everybody to forsake you. Expect your phone to be constantly silent. Expect most of the calls and messages to be from creditors or reminders of bill payments. Expect to hear bad rumors about yourself from the very friends and colleagues who used to talk nice about you. Expect people to forget all the good things you did for them and all the targets you achieved. Expect to feel alone. All that is to be expected.
But also expect this: Even valleys and storms have expiry dates. Place your trust in GOD. Make peace with your situation. Do what you can with what you can every day. And eventually you will leave the valley. Before you know it, the storm will pass, you will be back on your feet and back better than before.
Don't be bitter when friends, family members and former colleagues forsake you. Frankly, they too have their own burdens to carry. Don't be bitter when your family doesn't understand you. Don't be bitter when no one seems to believe in you. It's a lonely place when you're down but with time, GOD will make a way for you where there is no way. Opportunities will come. Doors of better connections will open up. And you will come out better than before. Always remember, tough times don't last but tough people do.
Here are some places you can begin applying for jobs that I have seen on LinkedIn. You can start your journey back up from here after you've said your prayer to GOD.
These are just some of the common job vacancy platforms:
- LinkedIn.
- Shortlist Professionals.
- BrighterMonday
- Recours four Kenya Consultants Limited
- Summit Recruitment and Search
- Corporate Staffing Services Ltd
- Inspira (for UN Jobs)
- Impactpool (for all NGO Jobs all over the world)
- Neuvoo
- Career Directions Ltd.
- Fuzu
- Frank Management
- AMSCO Development Solutions Ltd
- New Age Associates
- BDHRS Talent 4.0 Pvt Limited
All of them are reliable and you will come across more platforms as you apply for jobs. On the JOBS section of LinkedIn, there are jobs that have been labelled "EASY APPLY". They just need you to attach your cv or resume and/or cover letter and then submit your application. They are just that easy to apply.
When you begin applying, you may feel bored and discouraged over time but with time most of the processes and questions will appear repetitive and easier to tackle. Start by applying one job every day. By end month, that will be 30 job applications made. Even on your dark days, apply one job a day. Even when you get a regret letter of not being selected for a particular job, keep on applying. You cannot change the past but your actions today can change your tomorrow.
You can also use the job alert section on LinkedIn Jobs to automatically alert you on job vacancies on a daily basis.
Lastly you can search for #opportunityshare which professionals from all over the world use to post job vacancies that may not necessarily be on LinkedIn.
In case of any questions concerning areas you did not understand, hit me up in my inbox. I do not mind calling you and clarifying any part you did not understand.
I may not have the fish to feed you today but I can show you where to fish so that you can feed yourself tomorrow. Trust GOD through the process. You will make it through this crisis. And we will be here to cheer you on when you do. Being fired or being rejected on that job opportunity does not make you less valuable in the same way a Kshs. 1000 note does not loose value simply because it is stepped on and trampled on. So keep applying those jobs and when you least expect it, GOD WILL MAKE A WAY FOR YOU WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO WAY.
