Fire at Sea

“Fire at Sea”is the thrilling story of the rescue of 530 people aboard a burning cruise ship in a typhoon in the Gulf of Alaska. It's now?a four-hour, five part podcast produced by Wondery that tells the remarkable story of the fire and sinking of the cruise ship Prinsendam, 140 miles off the coast of Alaska in October 1980. The US Coast Guard calls the nail-biting rescue, ”The greatest high seas rescue in Coast Guard history.”?

I and my 13-year-old daughter Malory were aboard the Prinsendam on that faithful journey and our stories are a backbone for the series, which consists of four docudrama segments using a narrator, actors and?sound effects, and a fifth episode in which I and Malory tell our stories of survival, drifting in a lifeboat in a typhoon in frigid waters far from land.
