Another great post Peter. One more challenge in my experience is project delivery and designing for access to system components for maintenance or response. It is so important that designers of fire protection systems consider access requirements for maintenance and ensure this remains available when coordinating space with other building systems. Failing to coordinate this can prevent access to system components to keep the fire protection system operational. Additionally, this usually results in further costs to the client to rectify systems to create suitable access that will allow maintenance to be done correctly.
