Hello subscribers.
Today, I am not writing from a professional lens, but a personal one. Why am I choosing to share a personal matter via a LinkedIn newsletter? I want as many people to see this as possible. It's also a great reminder that each professional also has a personal life that often impacts how they can show up. Often we have no idea what is occurring in someone's life, even people who work with or interact with frequently.

My husband and I have a 7-year old mentee who we care about deeply. He was in a fire on Tuesday, November 1st with two of his family members. Thank God, they all were able to get out without injury. However, unfortunately they lost EVERYTHING. Our mentee stays there often while his mom is working, so he lost half of his possessions as well.
My husband and I created a GoFundMe page to help them during this difficult time. If you would like to support this amazing family who just went through a traumatic situation follow the link below to learn more about their immediate and future needs.

Nonprofit friends, please please put in the comments or DM me of local resources in Durham/ The Triangle that may be able to help, especially with temporary housing, income-based housing, and immediate toiletry and food items. They are connected with the Red Cross who will be trying to connect them with some housing partners, however the more information, the better. As of today, they are currently only in a hotel through Wednesday, November 9th. Any and all resources are welcome.
Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. ― Martin Luther King, Jr.
