Fire chief calls for strengthening of harassment laws for those in public service...

Hi reader,

I was amazed to learn that the Thames Barrier turned 40 this week. It’s a phenomenal piece of engineering and a key part of managing flood risk for the capital. I’ve been thinking about risks a lot as part of preparing for our wildfire webinar this week. On the warmest day of the year so far it was a timely and thoughtful discussion that showed the strength of partnership working to get upstream of the risk.

I’m thankful for the good weather and how it speeds on Figen Murray OBE and Nick Aldworth MPA CSyP as they walk the 200 miles from Liverpool to London, ending in the capital on 22 May, the seventh anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing. The groundswell of support for the walk is a different kind of partnership, one where we all feel the loss of Figen’s son, Martyn and hope that the government will hasten the legislation that will see all venues better prepared for when the worst happens.
