Finite Mindset in Infinite Games
Great new book of Simon Sinek... helps us to review how we are doing... in all aspects of life.
"Finite Mindset in Infinite Games" ... not really working well
As elaborated by Simon... this combination will not really work out well. Now lets reflect how we qualify people, how we rank, how we beat competition, how we reward, how we celebrate successes, what we focus on in safety management, how we qualify books ( Best-selling ), how we attract people with money-talks, how we assist to get a millionaire, ranking with Amazon stars for books, how we present ourselves with ranks and titles, the goal of zero in safety management, the drive for the excellence in operations management, sub-maximizations for this or that, super-human myths, GDP growth myth... and so on...
All this is not really working out well... we realize it in societies and economies ( Climate Crisis, Extinction Rebellion, Fridays for Future, ... ), and also with our health and life satisfaction. We have less broken bones... but stress and mental illnesses are on the rise... but still we are starring on the bones-figure. We stay in the expert-bubble with our finite approach... not having a holistic / infinite view.
One key aspect according to Simon is to have a JUST CAUSE... what is it in your company, your family, for yourself? Do you really have a JUst Cause or just marketing words.
Work-Life Balance Myth is a great example... its a product of finite mindset in infinite game... therefore its a myth and gobbledygook... a distraction from what matters.
I enjoy the logic of Simon and think we all could build on it. Just ask some "nasty questions" in this context... to yourself in the first step... then you might understand why shift in perspective often is very helpful...
