I had the privilege of attending a wonderful seminar on "Finishing Well" this weekend , the seminar was led by Dr. David Wong who is the author of the book "Finishing Well" . Dr. David Wong is indeed a great speaker, blessed with skills to keep the entire crowd engaged through the day with amazing short stories and real life incidents that will keep you glued to your seats. This theme/ topic of "Finishing Well" has certainly traveled a feet down from my head to my heart ... !
In Ecclesiastes we read the end of the matter is better than the beginning. In the animation movie "Kung fu Panda"we hear this wonderful line "your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn't make you who you are. It is the rest of your story how you end that matters the most " these two statements resonate so well with the theme of "finishing well".
All of us have this natural instinct / desire to finish well! may it be a task assigned ! may it be our life mission ! may it be parenting ! etc. But to finish well we need to take care of the following ...
- To finish well , I need to begin now.
- To finish well, I need to finish each chapter well.
- To finish well, I need to know God's life mission for me / purpose.
- To finish well, I need to keep the main thing the main thing.
- To finish well, I need to keep a clean conscience daily.
- To finish well, I need to invest in building significant relationships.
The picture above is that of the" biosphere" which is a science project located in Arizona. Here scientist are creating vegetation/flora in a closed controlled environment. The trees in this project grow extremely tall .... they grow taller than the tress outside ! ... but the trunk / stem of these trees are found to be weak. The only possible explanation for these weak trunks is that these trees are in the controlled environment in the biosphere ; they are not subjected to the natural phenomenon called "wind". The wind in the outside environment causes the trees to bend and not be straight , but it does an amazing act of making the trunk strong. Being put through tough scenarios may cause us to fail in a chapter ..but it most definitely makes us battle hardened and ready to finish well! ... so when you are put through a rough patch , through trials, through tribulations, do not let it get the better of you ... be still and wait on God; there is something beautiful in the making !!
Happy Finishing Well !!
