Finishing a long-term project that makes someone's day

How does it feel to finish a project you've put a lot of time and energy into? Whether it's fixing up your house, planning a successful fundraiser or kicking off a new product, it all takes time, commitment and energy. And a huge blend of relief and joy when it's done.

In the photo above I'm talking with Ken Blanchard who has published over 60 books, a number of which were NY Times best sellers. He, Marshall Goldsmith, Bob Nelson, and so many of my MG100 colleagues have inspired me to write from the heart and that's what I've done. So here goes. Make Someone's Day is off to the editor and out of my folder for the first time in 2 years. It's a book that I believe can benefit business leaders and truly everyone, because we all need someone to make our day. And we all need to stay alert to opportunities to help make someone's day for others, to pick one another up in a way that's so powerful it's not just a nice to do or thank you, it's incredibly meaningful, important and at just the right time.

Here's hoping the editor will accept it, that I find the right publisher, and will be sharing stories and examples on a regular basis with each of you. So Michael, the editor, made my day just by accepting my manuscript. That was easy! What about you, who has made your day recently or whose day have you been able to make better? As our lives become more harried, as life gives way to the normal now and we wonder what will normal ever feel like, the need to make someone's day is out there. And as one crisis immediately follows or coincides with another, we all need to make each other's day (think the pandemic and forest fires in the west). Can it all be solved? Time will tell.

May the rest of this year be one that leads to a high note with optimism, positive results, and perhaps one more book on your bookshelf - Make Someone's Day. In the meantime, I've got some delayed housework that needs attention!
