Finishing First at BUSC and Lessons Learned from the RNMKRS Sales Competition

In my most recent post, I talked about my participation in the Bryant University Sales Competition (BUSC) and that I was fortunate enough to finish 1st out of all the competitors at my university. Three weeks ago, I also shared a post about my experience in the RNMKRS competition, and in this article, I want to take a deeper look at what helped me along the process that led to my success in both competitions.

In the Bryant University Sales Competition, my classmates and I from my personal selling class simulated a sales meeting in which the ultimate goal was to establish the benefit of the company we were posing as and set up a next meeting with the boss of the person we were meeting with. This allowed me to showcase my skills and get real-world experience in a sales meeting. During the lead-up to this event, I had the pleasure of studying the company Insight Global to pose as a representative from their company. This gave me great practice because, like many others in my class, my ultimate goal is to work in the sales industry. I am grateful I took 1st place in this event, but the experience I gained was better than any award I could have received.

The following week, I got to participate in the RNMKRS sales competition. This process was gratifying because we had to do practice role plays for different parts of a sales meeting, so when the day came around, I was more than ready to do well in this meeting. The practice role plays for this competition were great because they allowed me to practice with an AI robot repeatedly until I perfected each part of the sales meeting.

Outside of the prep and execution of these competitions, the most important benefit from these events was networking with business professionals and listening to their great advice. I am very thankful for both of these experiences, and I am proud of myself for their outcomes. I am excited to participate in more events like this in my final year at Bryant in the fall.
