"In UDL, a mindset is that what is disabling is the environment, the experience, the materials, and the context,"?– Jayne Bischoff. The principles of UDL are about learning to make learning accessible to as many students as possible. UDL is a three-part task that, when undertaken with collegiality and widely available resources, decreases teacher workload and increases teacher success.

1. Connect what students need to know with engagement
2. Delivering instruction with multiple means of representation
3. Assessment through action and expression

We must first identify our students' strengths, needs, and interests to plan engaging lessons.?

Using an index card, Google sheet, or interview, create positive conditions for learning and a class UDL profile by asking the following questions.

• What helps you feel welcomed?
• How do you like to be greeted?
• What strengths do you bring to classrooms??
• What do you like most about school so far??
• What would you like to see changed??

With these answers as a starting point, educators can begin a UDL journey.
