1. Product Recommendation: A bespoke terrarium?

Sarah Moffat can’t think of a designer who doesn’t have a collection of some sort. The Turner Duckworth Global Chief Creative Officer is a lifelong collector of groups, patterns, and, of course, objects. To those who view this as clutter, she can’t help it–gathering is in her blood.

At this point, she knows how to quickly differentiate a good gift from a great one. If you’re shopping around for someone’s birthday, or just looking to be a good friend, take her advice with this one and look into Alice Koswara’s bespoke terrariums.?

“They’re Alice landscapes miniature jungles and rainforests in vessels of all shapes and sizes. What was once a cookie jar or a bottle now houses a world you can call your own,” Moffat says. It’s as thoughtful as gifts can come.?

2. Dream Studio: Editor Adam Moss’s “Perfect” Dream Studio

After a hugely successful run as Editor of New York, Adam Moss has written The Work of Art, which explores the creative process by Hugo Yu.

When Adam Moss, author, painter, and former editor of NYMag, wakes up in the morning, he reaches for the newspaper and a huge mug of coffee before getting dressed in whatever he first sees in his closet that day. Then, he heads off to his dream studio. Because he’s already got it…

“It’s a room that is a 15-minute bike ride away (so away from my house, but not enough of a distance that I can use it as an excuse to procrastinate). Two walls of windows, a huge bulletin board to tack up fragments, sketches or works-in-progress, and no internet. It's perfect.”

4. Read our biggest, most ambitious story yet: Halli Shall Be Released

Views out over Reykjavik — which resembles a fishing village and is dotted with red, blue, green, and yellow metal-clad houses — makes the living space feel like it is part of the outdoors. So when Halli is inside, he can still experience city life.

In January, our Editor Matt McCue spent a very cold, dark week in Iceland getting to know Halli Thorleiffson, one of the most iconic designers and entrepreneurs of our time who was named Person of the Year by Iceland’s President. Halli is an incredibly talented multi-hyphenate, and he also lives with muscular dystrophy, a physical condition he's had since early-childhood that causes muscular weakness and pain.?

Read our visually-rich story on Halli here, where he shares his lifetime quest to figure out who he really is.?
