Product Recommendation: Dave Brown’s personal ticker, the Tidbyt
We recently asked Dave Brown to tell us about the last product he decided to splurge on. Little did we expect that it would resemble a digital organ. The Tidbyt is a smart display with a retro look, and it tells you things like what sports game is currently playing or how the stock market is doing.
“The intersection of digital and physical is a space I’m fascinated with and Tidbyt absolutely nails it,” Brown said. “It’s like having your own personal ticker — I’ve got mine in my home office and the content cycles between stocks, my work calendar, weather, and a reminder to go for a walk.”

Dream Studio: Hamish Smith’s kind-of-tidy studio with lots of workbenches
Designer and entrepreneur Hamish Smyth likes to split his working hours into thirds: talking to customers, marketing, and operations. When he’s not working, you might find him furniture diving for dedicated workbenches, where he can successfully master his crafts.
“If we’re dreaming, it would be a place with ample space obviously, nice light, and lots and lots of dedicated workbenches for all the hobbies that come and go. For my workbench, I was lucky to curb-find a Svend Madsen Danish wooden desk after I moved to New York. That’s my prized piece of furniture,” says Smyth. “And I’d like the place to be kind of technical and tidy, but not in a weird way. Perhaps most importantly, within a 10-minute walk from home. Or I won’t go.”

Creative Factor Rec: [E13] SHELTER 750, a solo exhibition on volcanoes by Sahra Jajarmikhayat
Artist Sahra Jajarmikhayat recently collected volcanic activity data from one of three active volcanoes in Italy to create an abstract series of works that explore the suspension of time. She asks, “How might a human creator embody the utter lack of control experienced when facing the volcano?”?
Featuring work spanning design, objects, and sculptures, [E13] SHELTER 750 is a visual essay drawing on an extended index of generative forms. The poetic, intimate, provocative, results will be on view at DOG with Landscape from May 31st through June 21st.
