Finding Your Work Match: Aligning Principles for Success

I Help Enable Better Outcomes Through Business Agility, Agile Transformation, and High-Performance Coaching
Choosing who to work with can feel a lot like entering a new relationship. At first, everything might seem perfect, but it can quickly turn rocky if there’s a mismatch. Just as online dating tools use principles to match people, I believe a similar approach can apply to candidate and client relationships, helping to form deeper relationships built on more than just appearances and first impressions.
In business, aligned principles are the foundation of effective partnerships and thriving cultures.?As a business leader, having a team that shares the core principles of your organisation can foster the culture you aim to build. This alignment is especially crucial during business transformations, where cultural change is an enabler. I have observed how effectively Amazon do this with their Leadership Principles, which are embedded in the fabric of their culture and ways of working.
In today’s competitive talent market, where roles receive hundreds of applications, I propose that clearly articulating and aligning on principles can set you apart and lead to better outcomes for candidates and clients. By being explicit about the principles that guide us, we make it easier for like-minded professionals to connect and collaborate, whether they fit into our current culture or aspire to shape a new one.
Introducing My Guiding Principles
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share a series of posts detailing the five principles that drive my approach to leading change and building effective teams in a complex and dynamic world:
