FINDING YOUR WHY

FINDING YOUR WHY

Finding Your Why

Think about those people/teams that you know that are the most successful/driven. Nothing stands in their way. One of the common denominators is a sense of purpose. Those super successful individuals and teams understand what motivates them and their people.

The ultra successful not only achieve consistent, excellent results, but they make a positive impact on the world around them. This sense of a purpose is tied to a positive moral compass. So, how do you get achieve this for yourself and those around you? Find out what really matters, GET REAL with yourself and those around you. Great accomplishments are achieved by men and women who have this deep sense of purpose and the determination, ability, and skill to execute them.

You also need to recruit/hire better people. Better people = better employees that will have better communication, teamwork and a sense of loyalty. WINNING is defined differently for each and every person around you, so, you need to understand the goals/dreams of everyone on the team. Once you understand those goals/dreams, it’s all about action, action, and more action to help make them a reality. I’m sorry, but I’m not sure who exactly who said this, but it is good - “With great men and women, their reach often exceeds their grasp…thoughts are things, and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches or other material objects…when one is truly ready for a thing, it puts it into appearance…”

Everyone has a purpose in life. Everyone has a unique gift or special talent to help others. Shift your internal dialogue from “what’s in it for me” to “how can I help.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

So finding your why is about finding that sense of purpose for you and those around you.

No purpose/why = no results.

Have a great weekend!

Agreed.... knowing your own "why", defining and communicating the "why" of the organization, and having the love to learn your individual teammates' "whys". Great article, Dan! Thanks for sharing.
