I demystify business + marketing ? Business Clarity Mentor guiding solo business owners to start or evolve their business ? Let’s get clear on your unique brilliance, niche, business model, message, marketing strategy
Have you been tuning into the US election and the speeches this week?
Here's one aspect that I find fascinating:
Every political speech is, at its core, a sales pitch.
Politicians are selling ideas.
Persuading you to buy (vote).
Telling you their origin story.
Hoping you'll buy into their unique vision, message and point of view.
They're saying, "Choose me, and here's why..."
Sound familiar?
And unfortunately, we see a lot of negative messaging and tactics in both politics and business.
False claims, manipulation, personal attacks, aggressive or narcissistic behavior...
So we start to believe that the only way to win is to mimic these kinds of tactics.
- OR -
We go the other route, and simply opt out of marketing our business, with thoughts like:
"I don't want to be perceived as a show off, fake, pushy or sleazy. "

"Sales require a certain personality type that I don't have. I'm not good at this, so it's pointless to even try."
"This requires too much effort. It's just not worth it."
I see this all the time. And P.S. I sometimes struggle with it too!! When I see the ways that other business coaches market and message their service and it doesn't fit with the way I would do it.
So what should we do?
Sit around with other solo business owners... moan and complain? Voice your disapproval of these people and tactics with a loud BOO? Here's what Obama would say to that...
Don't boo, share your message.
Don't boo, show us a different kind of leadership, marketing and selling.
Trump and others use Twitter (X) in terrible ways, so does that mean we should opt out of using Twitter? Of course not. Twitter is just a tool. (And a free way to reach millions of people!)
It's a podium with a microphone. ???
So the question is...
Your voice, your message—could be exactly what someone out there needs to hear today.
What's your take? Let's chat about it in the comments.
